Secretary for Development Paul Chan says he expects this year’s land supply target can be reached, despite difficulties in rezoning land.
Speaking to the media today, Mr Chan said it is understandable some people oppose rezoning plans, as it will affect the living environment in the vicinity.
The Government will do its best to solve and relieve residents' concerns, he said, adding there have been cases where these efforts have been successful.
If an agreement cannot be reached despite these efforts, the Government will refer the matter to the Town Planning Board, he said.
On brownfield development, Mr Chan said a study on relocating brownfield operators to a special purpose-built structure is underway, to make land use more reasonable.
