The MTR Corporation will complete an estimate of the Express Rail Link project timetable and cost by the end of June, and it will be made public as soon as possible after it is received by the Government.
Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung said today the Government will facilitate the work of the Legislative Council Select Committee examining the delay of the Express Rail Link project and related matters.
He also said the Government will be fully accountable and will make the best effort to provide information.
Speaking on the MTRC’s fare adjustment mechanism, Prof Cheung said it should be objective, transparent and fair to both passengers and the operator. It should also take into account affordability.
The Government is prepared to bring forward a five-yearly regular fare adjustment review process, subject the corporation’s agreement, he added.
