Bypass works impact hard to assess

March 29, 2015

It is unknown what impact a suspected shipwreck found six metres beneath the seabed near the old Wan Chai Ferry Pier will have on the ongoing Central-Wan Chai Bypass works, Secretary for Development Paul Chan says.

Speaking to reporters after attending a radio programme today, Mr Chan said the bureau is in the process of fact-finding and no one knows yet what the large metal object is under the seabed.

The Civil Engineering & Development Department will accord top priority to the work as it is important to the bypass project and railway development.
