Traffic complaints fall 17%

February 27, 2015

The Transport Complaints Unit received 6,112 complaints in the fourth quarter of last year, down 16.8% on the previous quarter.

Most were related to public transport services (90%), enforcement matters (6%) and traffic conditions (2%).

Cases on public transport services dropped 17.2% to 5,534, while those on traffic conditions dropped from 148 to 132.

Road maintenance cases dropped from 43 to 26, and complaints about illegal parking and other enforcement matters dropped from 444 to 398.

The Transport Advisory Committee also met today and was briefed on the progress of the Intelligent Transport Systems, including the eTransport kiosks and Speed Map Panels.

The Transport Department recently installed eight eTransport kiosks, which allow users to search for public transport routes, and provide real-time traffic information and transport facilities nearby.

The Speed Map Panels help motorists to make route choices by providing real-time traffic conditions through gantry signs in a schematic map. Different colours represent the levels of congestion on the road sections.
