Secretary for Development Paul Chan visited Paris yesterday, after attending the World Sustainable Building Conference in Barcelona.

Mr Chan met with the Deputy Mayor of Paris Patrick Klugman and visited the wastewater authority Syndicat Interdépartemental pour l'Assainissement.

He visited the National Federation of Public Works and exchanged views with representatives on the utilisation of underground space and infrastructural development.

Mr Chan also spoke to representatives from the Ville10D project, which promotes the use of underground space for sustainable urban development.

He then visited La Défense, a major business district just west of Paris, and was briefed on the use of underground space development to provide business areas and public open space.

The development chief also called on the Chinese Ambassador to France Zhai Jun.
