Transport complaints rise 8.5%

The Transport Complaints Unit received 5,885 complaints and suggestions in the second quarter of 2014, up 8.5% on the previous quarter.

 

Most were related to public transport services (91%), followed by enforcement matters (6%) and traffic conditions (1%).

 

Public transport services cases increased 9.2% to 5,394, while those on traffic conditions dropped from 100 to 93.

 

Road maintenance cases increased from 16 to 41, and complaints about illegal parking and other enforcement matters nudged up from 342 to 343.

 

The unit completed investigations into 6,986 cases during the period.

 

Departments and transport operators took on board 22 suggestions to enhance public transport services and improve traffic conditions.
