Passengers should alight safely

October 20, 2014

The Transport Department has called on commuters not to alight from buses in the middle of the carriageways.

As some major trunk roads such as Harcourt Road are still illegally occupied by demonstrators, causing traffic jams, some passengers have been alighting in the middle of the road, causing a danger to themselves and other road users.

It asked commuters to be patient and wait until their buses have pulled over so they can safely alight.

The department and Police will carry out temporary traffic management measures according to traffic changes, and motorists should follow the instructions of Police on site.

A total of 226 bus routes and 23 green minibus routes are still affected by protests. Tram services between Percival Street and Victoria Park remain suspended.
