The MTR Corporation appointed four new directors today.
They include three new independent non-executive directors - James Kwan, Lucia Li and Benjamin Tang - appointed by the corporation, and one non-executive director - Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) Wai Chi-sing - appointed by the Chief Executive pursuant to the Mass Transit Railway Ordinance.
The Government said the three newly appointed independent non-executive directors come from different professional backgrounds comprising engineering, accounting, auditing and public administration, which will strengthen the corporation’s governance and operation.
It also noted that Mr Wai has profound experience in works projects management, which will enhance the board's supervision on works projects.
For the change of membership of the various board committees after the setting up of the Capital Works Committee and the Risk Committee, the Government said it will facilitate members to bring their diverse professional knowledge and experience into play, which will be conducive to the corporation's long-term development.
