The Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the Tree Management Office's performance and effectiveness in ensuring people's safety.
The watchdog will study how the Tree Management Office - which is under the Development Bureau – and other relevant Government departments co-ordinate with each other and implement policies covering tree care.
The Ombudsman's Office noted there were quite a few cases of trees collapsing in recent years, causing loss of life, human injury and property damage.
It will scrutinise the Tree Management Office's system of overseeing and co-ordinating departments and to see whether improvements can be made to make it more effective.
