Hong Kong International Airport Air recorded 10.4% year-on-year growth in cargo throughput in March, to 397,000 tonnes, the Airport Authority announced today, adding it had also received two prestigious Skytrax 2014 World Airport Awards, for 'world’s best' airport dining and baggage delivery.
During March, it also handled 5.1 million passengers, up 2.9% year-on-year, and 32,445 flight movements, up 6.2%.
The authority's Chief Executive Officer Stanley Hui noted the airport remained the world's busiest cargo airport for the fourth consecutive year.
On a rolling 12-month basis, the airport processed 60.7 million passengers, a 6.1% increase, and 4.2 million tonnes of cargo, up 3.5%, compared with the same period last year. Flight movements grew 6.3% to 377,435.
