The Drainage Services Department has awarded the first Government consultancy agreement under a New Engineering Contract for professional services, a milestone in enhancing contract-management efficiency.
The five-year consultancy agreement for the investigation, design and construction of drainage improvement works in Happy Valley will cost about $8.9 million.
The consultant will study and propose solutions for improving Happy Valley's drainage capacity, and provide support in supervising the improvement works.
Speaking at the contract-signing ceremony, Drainage Services Director Daniel Chung said the New Engineering Contract emphasises mutual trust and co-operation, and has provisions to enhance efficiency. He hoped to extend its use to consultancy agreements for the entire sector's benefit.
