Helicopter accident probed

October 07, 2013

The Civil Aviation Department has ordered an investigation into a helicopter accident at Sek Kong Airfield.

The Robinson 22 helicopter toppled during low-level hover training at around 4pm yesterday. The Hong Kong Aviation Club said the aircraft had a heavy landing, and the department determined that it was an accident.

The Chief Inspector of Accidents ordered an inspector's investigation to determine the cause, in accordance with the Hong Kong Civil Aviation (Investigation of Accidents) Regulation. A preliminary report will be released in about a month.

The club has suspended all flight operations.
