Classic characters:  The Heritage Museum is holding the "Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship & Family" exhibition until March 5, 2018.

The "Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship & Family" exhibition opened today at the Heritage Museum, featuring 300 exhibits including sketches and sculptures from Pixar’s new film Coco, which have not been seen outside its studios.

The exhibition showcases handpicked artworks created on traditional and digital media, complemented by video clips of interviews with Pixar artists about their creative inspiration.

Founded in 1986 in California, Pixar Animation Studios combines art and technology to create original stories in the medium of computer animation, with intimate relationships among friends and family as recurring themes, such as in Monsters Inc., Up, The Incredibles and Finding Nemo.

The exhibition is a cultural activity to celebrate the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th anniversary and is jointly presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department and Pixar Animation Studios, with full support from the Walt Disney Company (HK).

"Moving Tales of Hong Kong Animation", a tie-in event jointly presented by the department and the Arts Centre, is also being held at the museum to showcase works by renowned and up-and-coming local animators.

Both exhibitions will run until March 5 next year.
