The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a Legionnaires’ disease case involving a 49-year-old woman.
The patient was admitted to Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital from August 12 to September 10.
The centre and the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department collected water samples and environmental swabs from the hospital to test for Legionella bacteria.
The samples collected from a water tap, shower and water dispenser in the patient's ward returned positive for the bacteria.
The centre said investigations so far could not rule out the possibility that the patient had contracted the disease from the hospital.
The centre has advised the hospital to replace the concerned water outlets.
Sixty-two Legionnaires' disease cases have been reported so far this year.
There were 75 and 66 cases in 2016 and 2015.
