Music memories:  The Art-Tune Encounter: A Gramophone Remembrance of Hong Kong & Shanghai exhibition will display album covers provided by the China Records Corporation.

Two art exhibitions and three carnivals will be held in the coming days to celebrate the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's 20th anniversary.

 

The Art-Tune Encounter: A Gramophone Remembrance of Hong Kong & Shanghai exhibition will run from August 30 to November 30 at the Hong Kong Central Library.

 

It will focus on the Chinese gramophone industry's development in the 1950s and '60s along with stories about two record companies in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

 

Wan Chai Carnival “Building a Harmonious Community” will be staged at Victoria Park on September 2.

 

Organised by the Wan Chai District Office, the event will feature tug-of-war, game stalls, an exhibition, food stalls and a photo corner with Shetland ponies.

 

The Yulan Festival of the Chiu Chow Community will be held at Victoria Park from September 1 to 3. It includes workshops, a 3-D shooting area, an exhibition, cultural tours, seminars and food booths.

 

Another carnival promoting social integration will be held at Yuen Long Town Hall on September 2. It will feature booth games, performances, health talks and local snacks.

 

An exhibition will be staged at Sheung Wan Civic Centre on September 2 to 3, displaying more than 100 award-winning calligraphy and painting exhibits created by students and members of the public. An award presentation ceremony will be held on September 2.
