More anniversary activities to be held

Festive fun:  The Together We Build - Community Engagement in Public Space Transformation @ SummerFest Lifestyle event will feature a sedan chair race through a maze.

Two carnivals, an indoor dragon boat competition and an art exhibition will be held in the coming days to celebrate the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s 20th anniversary.

 

The Together We Build - Community Engagement in Public Space Transformation @ SummerFest Lifestyle event will be staged from August 25 to 27 at the Central Harbourfront Event Space.

 

The carnival will bring together 2,000 participants to build 20 gigantic pieces of furniture and a giant outdoor maze. The large furniture components will be transformed into sedan chairs for a race through the maze.

 

There will also be DIY workshops and parent-child activities for visitors.

The Pok Oi Healthy Life Carnival will take place at Tung Tau Industrial Area Playground in Yuen Long from 11am to 3pm on August 26. 

 

The carnival will feature free Chinese medical consultation, acupuncture smoking cessation services, health talks, performances, games and other recreational activities.

More than 400 participants from 35 teams will take part in the 7th Hong Kong Indoor Dragon Boat Championships at Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill, on August 27 that includes individual and relay races.

 

An area will be set aside for the public to try out a dry-land dragon boat machine and take part in paper arts workshops.

The Grand Chinese & Western Art Exhibition 2017 in Celebration of the Hong Kong SAR 20th Anniversary will be launched at City Hall on August 22. 

 

It will show 100 Chinese and Western calligraphic works, paintings, handicrafts and musical instruments. 

 

The exhibition will run from 5.30pm to 8pm on August 22, from 11am to 8pm from August 23 to 27, and from 11am to 5pm on August 28.
