Fireboat museum marks 10th anniversary

Flagship fireboat:  The Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery will launch a series of programmes to mark its 10th anniversary.

A series of programmes will be held from tomorrow to October to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery. 

 

They include tours of fireboats the Alexander Grantham and the Elite, the Fire & Ambulance Education Centre & Museum and the Sai Wan Ho Fire Station.

 

Guided tours on the restoration of the Alexander Grantham and a night visit to the fireboat will also be held.

 

The gallery will hold the 10th Anniversary Memorial Day on September 30 when visitors can participate in workshops on making fireboat badges, view a lion dance performance by firefighters and enjoy other cultural shows. 

 

The Alexander Grantham went into service in 1953 and served as the flagship fireboat of the Fire Services Department.

 

After its decommissioning in 2002, the fireboat was turned into a museum and opened in 2007.
