The Home Affairs Department has issued an alert about letters bearing the logos of different government departments.
The letters claim the "Home Affairs Bureau/Home Affairs Department" will offer special benefits to the elderly and ask for personal information.
The department said today that it and the Home Affairs Bureau did not issue the letters and would not ask the public for personal data.
It reminded people to stay vigilant and to not provide personal data to anyone suspicious.
