The Leisure & Cultural Services Department removed an Old & Valuable Tree today from a slope in Lei Yue Mun Park, as it was in danger of collapsing.
The 14-metre-tall Scolopia saeva was confirmed to have brown root rot infection in 2014.
The department applied fungicide and cleaned the tree’s crown. However, its health and structural condition did not improve.
The Expert Panel on Tree Management decided to remove the tree to protect public safety.
