Care fund programme extended

November 30, 2016

The Community Care Fund has announced the extension of the Special Care Subsidy for the Severely Disabled programme to provide subsidies of up to $2,000 for two years.

Administered by the Social Welfare Department, the programme launched in 2011 and has been extended.

It provides a special care subsidy for the severely disabled who are living in the community and not receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance.

Beneficiaries under the extended programme should be aged below 60, live in the community and receive the Higher Disability Allowance under the Social Security Allowance Scheme.

They must also have a monthly household income not exceeding 150% of the Median Monthly Domestic Household Income.

There are three levels of subsidy based on the beneficiary's household income: full ($2,000 per month), three-quarters grant ($1,500) or half grant ($1,000).

The Social Welfare Department will issue letters inviting applications from eligible people for the programme.

The deadline is February 28.

Beneficiaries under the programme do not need to submit new applications.
