Subsidised colorectal services offered

November 24, 2016

The Hospital Authority launched the Colon Assessment Public-Private Partnership Programme today for patients to receive colon care from private specialists.

Hospital Authority Director (Cluster Services) Dr Cheung Wai-lun said patients can choose one private specialist which has joined the programme for services including clinical assessment, colonoscopy and explanation of results.

The doctors can also remove polyps, send tissue specimens for tests, and arrange follow-up sessions with patients.

A one-off fixed subsidy of $6,800, excluding polyp removal, or $7,500, including polyp removal, will be provided to each patient who only needs to co-pay up to $2,000.

The co-payment of $1,000 for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients and holders of valid full medical fee waiver certificates will be borne by the Hospital Authority.

Invitation letters will be issued to eligible patients from next month in batches.

Eight thousand invitations will be sent out in 2016/17 and 2017/18.
