Storm signal lowered

The Hong Kong Observatory replaced the No. 8 Southwest Gale or Storm Signal issued at 2.15pm today with Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 5.20pm as Severe Tropical Storm Haima moved away from Hong Kong.

 

Public transport services are gradually returning to normal.

 

As at 5.20pm, 219 people had sought refuge at the temporary shelters opened by the Home Affairs Department. Nine shelters are still in operation.

 

As at 5pm, the 1823 Government Call Centre had received 197 reports of fallen trees.

 

The Hospital Authority said, as at 5.20pm, seven men and six women, aged 22 to 94, had sought medical treatment at public hospitals during the typhoon.

 

The Airport Authority said 738 flights had been cancelled or delayed as at 5pm.

 

No reports of flooding and landslides have been received so far.
