Museum advisory head named

October 20, 2016

The Home Affairs Bureau has announced that Stanley Wong will chair the newly established Museum Advisory Committee.

The first term of the committee is for two years starting today.

The committee, together with its three standing sub-committees, will advise the Leisure & Cultural Services Department on strategies for development, promotion and management of public museums.

The three standing sub-committees on art, history and science will succeed the Art Museum Advisory Panel, the History Museum Advisory Panel and the Science Museum Advisory Panel.

The bureau said the committee will provide overarching and visionary advice on the growing number of issues commonly faced by all public museums while the three sub-committees will facilitate focused discussions on stream-specific issues to address concerns unique to different museums.

Members of the committee possess a great wealth of professional expertise and experience relevant to the work of the museums, including professionals, academics, museum experts, collectors, art promoters, entrepreneurs, marketing and public relations experts, and community leaders.

The committee’s membership list and terms of reference can be found here.
