The Community Care Fund announced today it will extend offering one-off subsidies to Comprehensive Social Security Assistance households living in rented private housing and paying rent that exceeds the maximum rent allowance under the assistance scheme.
Each eligible one-person household will be provided with a one-off subsidy of $2,000 while two-or-more-person households will receive $4,000.
The beneficiaries are not required to submit applications. The Social Welfare Department will identify eligible households according to their previously reported rental information.
The subsidy will be deposited directly into their bank accounts for assistance payment from late November.
The programme was rolled out in October 2011 and was re-launched in September 2013, September 2014 and September 2015, aiming to relieve the scheme's households' financial burden arising from the periodic increase of rent.
