Chinese poetry writing promoted

The 26th Chinese Poetry Writing Competition prize presentation ceremony was held today at the Hong Kong Central Library.

 

Organised by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department the competition promotes proficiency in Chinese language and the appreciation of Chinese literature.

 

The first prize in the open category went to Li Lai-to.

 

Chinese University student Leung Tsoi-hang won the first prize in the student category.

 

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony Acting Secretary for Home Affairs Florence Hui said Hong Kong's public libraries will continue to enrich their literature collection and organise regular activities to cultivate the public's appreciation of Chinese rhymes and poetry.

 

The competition received an enthusiastic response with almost 700 entries.
