Local Dengue case reported

August 30, 2016

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a local case of Dengue fever.

The case involves a 79-year-old woman with underlying illnesses who fell ill two weeks ago and sought treatment at Queen Mary Hospital on August 25 and was discharged on August 27.

She tested positive for the Dengue virus yesterday and was re-admitted to Queen Mary Hospital.

She lives on Shelley Street, Central, and often visits the Zoological & Botanical Gardens.

To date, 81 cases have been confirmed this year, including 79 imported cases, one under investigation and this local case.

The centre advised people to take anti-mosquito precautions both locally and during travel.
