Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah today attended Association of Southeast Asian Nations meetings in Brunei.
At the Third China-ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture & Arts Meeting, Mr Lau said Hong Kong can make significant contributions to the implementation of the Belt & Road Initiative as it is a vibrant metropolis with cultures originating from Chinese traditions.
He said Hong Kong can serve as a "super-connector" between China and the rest of the world on the cultural front.
Hong Kong has signed cultural co-operation pacts with ASEAN members Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines, and Mr Lau said he hopes to sign more agreements with Belt & Road countries.
He also attended the Seventh Meeting of the ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan, Korea) Ministers Responsible for Culture & Arts.
Starting his Brunei programme yesterday, Mr Lau attended the welcome function for the ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan, Korea) Ministers Responsible for Culture & Arts and a gala performance of the ASEAN Festival of Arts.
He also visited an art gallery and institutions to learn about the country's arts development.
