The Centre for Health Protection said today it is closely monitoring the first local case of Zika virus infection in Pinellas County in Florida and urged the public to adopt strict anti-mosquito measures during travel.
According to the Florida Department of Health, apart from confirmed transmissions in Miami-Dade County, the first local case was reported in Pinellas County.
508 imported and 42 local cases have been reported in Florida.
The centre is liaising with the World Health Organisation and overseas, neighbouring and Mainland health authorities.
