Matthew Cheung concludes Beijing trip

Rehabilitation services:  Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung meets China Disabled Persons' Federation Chairperson Zhang Haidi.

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung called on the China Disabled Persons' Federation, the China Enterprise Confederation and the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office in Beijing today.

 

Meeting the federation's Chairperson Zhang Haidi, Mr Cheung said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s total recurrent expenditure on rehabilitation services has grown 80% since 2007-08 to $30.1 billion in the current financial year.

 

He then met the confederation's Executive Vice President Huang Haisong to discuss the latest developments in labour rights protection and employer-employee relations in Hong Kong.

 

Mr Cheung later visited the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing to meet with Hong Kong students participating in a summer internship programme there.

 

He also met with Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office Deputy Director Zhou Bo to update him on new initiatives in Hong Kong's labour and welfare areas.
