The Centre for Food Safety today banned the import of poultry meat and eggs from Middelfart and Nordfyns in Denmark.
It was notified of an avian influenza outbreak in Brenderup, near the two municipalities.
The centre is liaising with Danish authorities and will monitor information issued by the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Eight hundred tonnes of frozen poultry meat and 795,000 poultry eggs were imported from Denmark in the first six months of this year.
