Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah has attended the opening ceremony of an annual cultural exchange programme and co-operation forum in Changsha.

Speaking at the ceremony today, Mr Lau said the event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, provides an important exchange platform for the arts and cultural sectors in Hong Kong, Macau and the Mainland.

"Through cultural forums, organisation exchanges and visits, Hong Kong delegates can learn about the country's long-standing and extensive cultural resources, and boost their cultural understanding of national affairs. It can also enhance the friendship between the three places, and create a solid foundation for future co-operation," he said.

Mr Lau also attended a seminar on cultural heritage and modern life to discuss experiences and ideas in transforming cultural inheritance into contemporary living art.
