Frontline doctors can be assured their training, employment or development opportunities will not be affected by the doctors employed under the Limited Registration Scheme in the Government’s bid to get the Medical Registration (Amendment) Bill 2016 enacted.
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man made the statement after attending a radio programme today.
He said the Hospital Authority will only recruit limited registration doctors only when there is a shortage of manpower in a particular specialty.
These limited registration doctors will be treated separately from local doctors in terms of employment, development and training, Dr Ko said.
“So the opportunity for local doctors would in no way be obstructed by the doctors employed under the Limited Registration Scheme,” he added.
