The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department and the Leisure & Cultural Services Department have conducted an anti-insect operation in Ngau Chi Wan Park and its surrounding areas.
Biting insects have become a public nuisance there with the coming of summer.
The measures included clearance of refuse, fallen leaves and other decaying vegetation on flower beds, pruning of densely grown plants and the use of insecticides in roosting areas of mosquitoes and biting midges.
The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department said its routine anti-mosquito work, including insecticide fogging and environmental improvement measures, will also aid in the control of biting midges.
It said it will monitor biting insect infestation in public places.
It urged the public take protective measures such as wearing light-coloured, long-sleeved clothes and trousers, and using insect repellent when they go to rural or shrubby areas.
