Paralympic Day held

May 29, 2016

Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah opened Hong Kong Paralympic Day at the Sports Institute today, an event which also marked 100 days until the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

The fun day featured an exhibition and demonstrations of various para-sports.

There were also trials on wheelchair fencing and wheelchair basketball for participants to experience the challenges athletes with physical disabilities face.

Mr Lau wished good fortune to those taking part at the Paralympics, noting that the Government has been supporting para-sports by providing venues and subsidies.

The biennial event is organised by Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled to raise awareness of para-sports in Hong Kong.
