Gov't setting breastfeeding standard

May 05, 2016

The Government is providing 255 baby care rooms in its office buildings to show its support for breastfeeding and to set an example for the private sector to follow.

Speaking at a breastfeeding promotional event today, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man said the Committee on Promotion of Breastfeeding has been encouraging different sectors of the community to implement breastfeeding-friendly facilities and measures since its establishment in 2014.

The committee has also pledged its continued promotional and educational work to strengthen breastfeeding support from the public and private sectors.

He said the Government has been working with restaurants so they can provide "breastfeeding corners", while some shopping malls have indicated support for greater convenience for breastfeeding women.
