Medicine task force formed

A tripartite task force was set up today to explore co-operation by leveraging the strengths of Hong Kong and Sweden in regenerative and advanced medicine research, as well as the strong industrial production capabilities of Shenzhen.

 

The task force was formed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Karolinska Institutet of Sweden.

 

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man, Secretary for Innovation & Technology Nicholas Yang, Shenzhen Vice Mayor Ai Xuefeng and Karolinska Institutet Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs Prof Maria Masucci attended the first task force meeting today.

 

They discussed the research and development of regenerative medicine, and devised an outline co-operation strategy with regard to the respective competences of the three parties.

 

The Food & Health Bureau said it hopes the collaboration on the biomedical and biotechnological fronts will bring new cures and innovative approaches in tackling different illnesses, and make contributions to the advancement of medical science for the betterment of human life.
