IT schemes for disabled invite applications

April 24, 2016

The Social Welfare Department will invite eligible individuals and organisations from tomorrow to apply for funding under two schemes that help people with disabilities acquire computer facilities for Internet access.

The deadline for applications is May 31.

The Jockey Club IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment supports non-governmental and non-profit-making organisations serving those with visual impairment to acquire advanced Chinese screen readers, Braille displays and accessories.

It also subsidises visually-impaired people in need to purchase these devices for studies or employment purposes. Previous beneficiaries may re-apply if they have proven genuine financial difficulty and need the devices for study or employment.

The Central Fund for Personal Computers helps people with disabilities acquire computer facilities for self-employment or receiving supported employment services at home.

For enquiries, please contact the department's Rehabilitation & Medical Social Services Branch by phone 2892 5156, email or fax 2893 6983.

Details are available on the department’s website or CyberAble.net.
