Public housing has played an important role in poverty alleviation and the Commission on Poverty will discuss poverty issues in this context when it meets next week, Chief Secretary and committee chairperson Carrie Lam says.

Mrs Lam told reporters today that there is room to fine-tune the existing poverty line which currently only considers people’s income, but not their expenditure and assets.

But she noted discussions at this stage are focused on getting a better grasp of the present situation and will not have any bearing on existing poverty alleviation measures.
