Scores of people gathered on both sides of Victoria Harbour tonight to watch the Lunar New Year fireworks display to celebrate the Year of the Monkey.
The 23-minute show consisted of eight scenes with a total of 23,888 pyrotechnic shells.
The show featured smiling monkey faces to celebrate the year’s start, and multicoloured spheres symbolising a multicultural society.
Event sponsor, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association, invited 1,000 people from underprivileged families to join a dinner reception at the Convention & Exhibition Centre and enjoy the fireworks spectacular.
