New Year parade held

February 08, 2016

Financial Secretary John Tsang opened the 2016 International Chinese New Year Night Parade in Tsim Sha Tsui tonight.

He noted that it was the 21st staging of one of the most spectacular events organised by the Tourism Board in Hong Kong.

Scores of spectators turned out to watch the parade in which 13 illuminated floats rolled along the streets to complement spectacular performances by local and overseas groups to celebrate the Year of Monkey.

The overseas performances included stilt walkers, percussion ensembles, cheerleaders and cultural dances.

There were also local performances like traditional lion dancers and other musical and dance groups.
