The body of a great egret found in Diamond Hill has tested positive for the H5N6 virus, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department said today.
The dead bird was found near Spring Hill in Nan Lian Garden on December 31.
The department will continue to conduct poultry farm inspections to ensure proper precautions against avian influenza have been implemented.
It reminded people to avoid contact with wild birds or live poultry and to clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them.
