Care fund programme extended

November 30, 2015

The Community Care Fund has extended its Special Care Subsidy for the Severely Disabled programme to provide monthly subsidies of up to $2,000.

The programme, administered by the Social Welfare Department, launched in 2011 and was extended in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

It provides a special care subsidy for severely disabled people who are living in the community and not receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance.

Beneficiaries under the extended programme should be aged below 60, live in the community and receive the Higher Disability Allowance under the Social Security Allowance Scheme.

They must also have a monthly household income not exceeding 150% of the Median Monthly Domestic Household Income.

There are three levels of monthly subsidies based on the beneficiary's household income: full grant ($2,000); three-quarters grant ($1,500); and, half grant ($1,000).

The Social Welfare Department will issue letters inviting applications from eligible people for the programme. The deadline is February 29.
