3 treated for Legionnaires'

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating three cases of Legionnaires' disease affecting two women and one man.

 

The first patient, a 78-year-old woman, fell ill on September 22 and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on September 25. She is in serious condition.

 

The second patient, an 80-year-old man, fell ill on October 1 and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on October 6. He is in stable condition.

 

The remaining female patient, aged 96, fell ill on October 5 and was admitted to United Christian Hospital the next day. She is in stable condition.

 

With underlying illnesses, all of the patients tested positive for Legionnaires' disease.

 

They are the 50th, 51st and 52nd cases recorded this year.
