The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of Legionnaires' disease affecting an 88-year-old man.
He fell ill on September 16 and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on September 20.
The clinical diagnosis is pneumonia and he is in a stable condition.
He tested positive for Legionella pneumophila.
The patient had no recent travel history and his home contact has no symptoms.
