Health chief visits Central & Western

September 04, 2015

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man today distributed hygiene packs to residents and shop operators along "Dried Seafood Street" on Des Voeux Road West to raise awareness on community hygiene.

He told reporters the neighbourhood includes several dried-seafood shops and their business could be seriously affected if the area is not kept clean, adding the Government will work with District Councils to ensure the clean-up drive runs smoothly.

District Officer (Central & Western) Cheryl Chow, Sheung Wan & Sai Ying Pun Area Committee Chairman Ha Chung-kin, and Dried Seafood & Grocery Merchants Association members joined Dr Ko in support of the "Keep Clean 2015@Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign.

The Home Affairs Department has arranged for one-off cleaning of private rear lanes and buildings without management bodies, to boost environmental hygiene and encourage residents to keep the environment clean.

Promotional leaflets and cleaning products were also handed out to residents, owners' corporations and mutual aid committees, shop operators, foreign domestic helpers and students in the district to promote the importance of observing good personal, household and environmental hygiene.
