The Centre for Health Protection is monitoring four newly reported Middle East Respiratory Syndrome cases in Jordan.
The patients are three men and a woman, aged 38 to 76. The first patient, a 60-year-old man, has died, while the other three patients had stayed in the same hospital where he was treated.
To date 1,478 cases have been reported to the World Health Organisation, including at least 516 deaths.
The centre advises travel agents organising tours to the Middle East not to arrange camel rides and activities involving the animals, which may increase the risk of infection.
