The Centre for Food Safety today banned the import of poultry products, including eggs from Quang Ngai Province in Vietnam.
The ban was imposed after Vietnamese authorities announced an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the province.
The centre has contacted Vietnamese authorities and will monitor developments.
About 195,000 poultry eggs were imported to Hong Kong from Vietnam last year.
