Secretary for Labour and Welfare Matthew Cheung visited a privately run elderly home in Sham Shui Po today to promote personal and environmental hygiene.

In support of the "Keep Clean 2015@Hong Kong: Our Home" campaign, Mr Cheung and volunteeers distributed cleaning and disinfection packs to the residents.

The Social Welfare Department will subsidise welfare units to boost hygiene measures and provide disinfection packs for distribution.

Mr Cheung also visited a 90-year-old woman and her daughter in Nam Cheong Estate, who are receiving a caretaker allowance under the Community Care Fund.

He was glad to learn that the $2,000 monthly allowance could provide an incentive to facilitate ageing at home.
