Care unit cleanliness enhanced

August 03, 2015
Clean scheme

Clean scheme:  Volunteer teams distribute cleaning packs to the elderly in Western District.

The Social Welfare Department will provide one-off allocations to organisations operating subsidised welfare service units to step up cleanliness measures.

The move is part of the "Keep Clean 2015@Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign.

All subsidised day and residential care service units will receive extra resources to step up cleaning efforts. Over 1,870 welfare service units will benefit.

The department will also provide preventive, cleaning and disinfection consumables to over 700 self-financing and private residential care homes for the elderly and the disabled to enhance their awareness of environmental hygiene.

The 11 District Social Welfare Offices will mobilise volunteers to visit residential care homes and other vulnerable groups, such as elderly living alone and deprived families, to promote personal and environmental hygiene.
