Sorbet again fails safety test

July 27, 2015

A locally made prepackaged sorbet has failed another safety check.

A mango-flavoured sample of the sorbet was recently found to contain a coliform count exceeding the legal limit.

Taking follow-up samples from the manufacturer, the Centre for Food Safety found the product still contained excessive coliform organisms.

The centre urged the public not to consume the product, regardless of batch.

The trade should also stop using or selling the product.

It is Mango Gelato (Sorbet) 450mm (best before date: February 28, 2016), distributed by da dolce Gelato Italiano, and manufactured by Wealthy Making Limited.
